Meet Kendra Abts
El Riad Shrine Spring Ceremonial Patient Testimonial 2022
Those that were in attendance for Saturday’s Women Luncheon and/or Spring Ceremonial experienced a real treat. Kendra Abts and her parents, Noble Steve and Lady Dawn Morgan, were our special guest speakers and made a terrific impact telling her perspective of experiences as a Shriners Hospitals for Children patient. Also, you’ll note her career was directly related to her time as a patient.
This YouTube video was debuted at Ceremonial and is our sixth installment of local Shrine patient testimonials. Please watch, follow, and share Kendra Abts’ story!
About the Woman
The 2022 Spring Ceremonial Shriners Children’s Patient is Kendra Abts. Kendra was born with a unilateral complete cleft lip-no cleft palate. Her parents, Steve and Dawn Morgan, played a large role in her treatments.
Kendra and her mom went to Chicago at least once a year for checkups at the Shriners Hospital from birth until she was about 18 years old.
The staff, the doctors, the specialists, and the Shriners were always so kind and welcoming. Kendra really connected with the Speech-Language Pathologist, Mary, in fact, Kendra knew she wanted to be just like her. Today, Kendra is a Speech-Language Pathologist in Mitchell at Avera Therapy. It’s her dream job since she loves the variety of settings and patients she gets to see everyday. One specific setting that Kendra finds pretty special is to be at is their pediatric clinic where they have partnered with the Scottish Rite.
Kendra is married to her husband, Chris. They have been together for 12 years and married for two. They have a daughter named Morgan who will be one years old in June and a dog named Paladin.
