“Due to the uncertainty of future cancellations we have omitted the calendar of events and upcoming events in this issue of the Cactus. When we are certain that an event will take place, we will send an eblast to inform everyone.”

Illustrious Sir, Al Zahn

El Riad Shrine

March is gone but not the madness. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has put us in an uncomfortable situation. We have had to cancel and postpone events and feel helpless because we cannot do anything about it.

WRONG ANSWER….we are the El Riad and we are doing something.

The Dance Club and Fife & Drum have both had to cancel events. But, they took the lead by showing their strong leadership in our Shrine and our community. They listened to our community leaders and did not put their unit members or citizens of our community at unnecessary risk.

The Motor Corps restructured their raffle so it was done online.

Circus Chairman, Aaron Neiman, and his committee have postponed our circuses and went right to work to reschedule them at a later date.

Yes, we cancelled our Spring Ceremonial, and this fall we will have a Fall Ceremonial you don’t want to miss.

Yes, we cancelled our Unit/Club meetings, our Wednesday night socials and events. We are putting the health and safety of our members, their families and friends first.

We appreciate the patience and support you have given your Shrine leadership as we make decisions to protect our Shrine and members. We will support our community leaders. We will stay home, stay healthy and safe until this virus is under control.

Thank you to all Nobles and Ladies for what you do. El Riad is a highly respected Shrine Temple because of your hard work and dedication.

COVID-19 has slowed us down, but remember we are El Riad.

Fraternally Yours,

Al Zahn, Potentate
El Riad Shrine
