Seems like it’s been 101 years…wait a minute, it HAS been 101 years!

So, Nobles, Units, Clubs, friends, and families, get over to Mitchell on Saturday, June 11, 2022, for the All Shrine Parade!

It will be an A-MAIZE- ING event with a 100 percent Shrine Parade to celebrate the 2022 Corn Palace Theme “Under the Big Top.”

Specifics will be forthcoming in due course, but we know now that unit staging will be in the parking lots at 9th and Kimball Street, north of the Palace. The parade will proceed south down Main Street to First Avenue. Thereafter, leave your equipment back where you started and get a free shuttle to and from the Mitchell Masonic Hall. We’ll have food, beverages, fellowship, and all around good times for every Noble and Shriner, and their families and friends, who make it over to the Corn Palace City.

Those post parade festivities will be immediately south of the Corn Palace so you can admire the 2022 murals.

What’s so special about the 2022 Corn Palace murals?

Well, just look at this – And not just a big red fez done up in corn, grasses and grains, but also our own Shrine Clown, the maître de of the Corn Palace himself, Noble Troy Magnuson, Popcorn!

So mark your calendars for June 11. Cancel your other plans and make the short drive to the Corn Palace City on June 11.

Join the All Shrine Parade on June 11.

Why in Mitchell? Why not? It’s been 101 years after all!

Change. Slow; difficult; controversial; but inevitable. And it gives opportunity for new ideas, some fresh excitement, and starting anew!

You may have noticed from the title that we’re now the Corn Palace Shrine Club & Hillbilly Outhouse. Our Shrine Club now has either Outhouse #2 or #1, we haven’t figured that one out yet, and Hillbilly Clan #161 has moved to east to the big city. No, not Mayberry, NC, or Rachel, KS, but only over a couple “hollers” to Sioux Falls.

Effective January 1, 2021, the Hillbillies in Sioux Falls and Mitchell have swapped responsibilities. Hillbilly Clan #161 is now administered out of the Home Office at El Riad. Congratulations to our “Cuzzins” in Sioux Falls. Namely, Rabban of the Hillbilly Clan Jeremy Reimer; Assistant Rabban of the Clan Paul Maxwell; Keeper of the Quill Don Laurila; Keeper of the Cob Bill Schepeler; and Keeper of the Still Paul Berndt. You guys are going to do a GREAT job keeping the El Riad Hillbillies strong and active. Thanks for stepping up and taking on the administrative and management tasks of Hillbilly Clan #161!
