'Tis the first day of fall. The leaves are transitioning to an autumn landscape, boats and docks are being pulled off lakes, kids backpacks and shoes adorn our floors, pumpkin spiced everything has returned, cash calendars are soon to be distributed, and El Riad Shrine is doing its best to keep things as normal as possible.

As always, this issue dons pictures from the 18th Annual El Riad Shrine Cup Golf Tournament which took place on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at GreatLIFE Willow Run. All net proceeds benefit Shriners Healthcare for Children – Twin Cities.

Augustana Vikings Head Coach, Jerry Olszewski, joins our 2020 Shriners Hospitals for Children Football Game Patient Ambassadors, Jaxon and Jeren, during our football game banquet. Our Potentate, members of the football committee, Divan and other Shriners welcomed the patients’ family, coaching staff and all football players for a safe and fun evening. Despite the pandemic, our Nobles, Ladies and families had some safe and fun summer outings!

As our too short warm season ends and school has already begun for some—and for the rest very soon—our shrine did what we could to adhere to CDC guidelines to safely celebrate the end of summer. Upcoming events are planned until otherwise noted and we hope all or most still occur to take our minds of all of the politics and rather grim headlines. This is where your Shrine can help distract and allow for helping others (including ourselves).

With spring sprung and our building still closed for large gatherings, the deafening silence is hard to miss and our own potentate took the photo of our sadly empty building.
