We had 46 people make up Team El Riad at the 2022 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, PGA Golf Tournament in Law Vegas, NV. I would like to specially recognize some people this year…Julia Brown (my daughter) formatted the shift schedules in a manner that everyone could read and understand…even me. Paula Brown (my wife) put together and continually adjusted the shift schedules, keeping everyone as happy as possible. Don Lemley, who has been a team member for all 11 years, helped place the Marshalls chairs on our holes 7, 8, and 9 on Wednesday, before the open began and helped return the chairs to storage upon completion of our final shift on Sunday. Jeff and Sandy Portice, in their first year as volunteers on Team El Riad, worked 7 of the 8 shifts. And Dick Ericsson fashionably wore his halo to the group photo shoot.
23 of our 46 members got out of bed on Sunday for the team photo. Some Imperial officers joined us for the photo, including Imperial Chief Rabban Ed Stoltz, El Riad Potentate Jim Slater, and SHOC President of the Board of Trustees Jerry Gantt. Imperial Potentate Kenny Craven, who was unable to make the team photo, jumped on my cart along with Tournament Chairman, Imperial Oriental Guide Larry Leib. They graciously took about an hour out of their day touring all three of our holes, greeting and thanking each of our team members on duty for that session.

Tournament dates for next year are October 12–15, and we will be aggressively pursuing members for Team El Riad, with a goal of 60+. Thanks to Ill Sir Jim Slater and the entire El Riad Divan for their continued support in this endeavor.
