Mystic Brewers

The unit meets the third Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Oasis Bar in El Riad Shrine. January and February meetings may be held in the Kashba Room at the El Riad Shrine.

This unit specializes in home brewing of beer and wine and have even gone as far as making their own home-made brats and other foods. There are two entry levels of membership; Brewers and Connoisseurs. Brewers are those who actively brew beer and/or wine while connoisseurs enjoy sampling as they choose a direction of what type of brewer they wish to become. Only Shriners may be actual members, but we encourage participation of others (wives, kids, friends, etc).

The Mystic Brewers help each other with the brewing process, and actively help each other to become better brewers as well as help raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the El Riad Shrine Transportation Fund and the El Riad Shrine Temple.

The unit was started in 2013 with 8 members and has quickly grown to over 45 active members. From first time brewers to veteran home brewers the combined experience of the Mystic Brewers is staggering.

Members take turns hosting Brew Sessions at their houses, garages or businesses. A Brew Sessions is where we get together to brew beer and wine and enjoy some kind of cookout or meal when we can. The brewing sessions are usually held on Saturdays or Sunday. They make for great socializing events for family and friends and the members as we try out each others recipes and pick out which new one’s we’ll try next.

In March 2014 the Mystic Brewers started the development of their own parade unit featuring motorized bar stools. Annual Dues are $25.
